A metal medal is cold and formal; a rosette ribbon is soft, colorful and unmistakably festive. The flower-like arrangement of folded loops reads as a hug you can pin to a shirt, which is why rosettes still appear at dog shows, agricultural fairs, school sports days and baby shower prize tables. Our Canvas renderer rebuilds that look in code: the loops are drawn as alternating wedges of a slightly darker and lighter shade, which fakes the accordion fold of real ribbon, and a raised center button covers the messy center where all the folds meet. The two streamers hanging below add movement, so the rosette looks like it is about to sway when pinned on a lapel.

There is an unspoken color code for award ribbons, and our presets follow it. Red means first place, grand champion or the main prize. Blue is second place or "best volunteer". White is often a participation or honorary mention. Green reads as environmental, school or 4-H prizes. Gold is reserved for championships, retirement and luxury gifts. Purple is the Twitch and gamification favorite, pink is baby showers and girls' birthdays, navy is corporate and formal, and black is goth, rock or "we survived" jokes. If you are making a set of ribbons for a competition, keep the same loop count and button size across all colors, and only swap the color, so the set looks designed rather than random.

The center button is small, so short, punchy words work best. "1ST", "2ND", "3RD", "WINNER", "DAD", "MOM", "MVP", "PRO" and "OK!" all fit comfortably. Phrases longer than two words wrap or shrink, which hurts readability. If you need more than one line, put the rank on the button ("1ST") and the category on the small top text ("BEST IN SHOW"). The top text sits above the rosette on a thin strip, mimicking the cardboard header ribbons you see on real prize rosettes. Keep everything in caps for the printed ribbon look — lowercase letters on a rosette feel like a website, not an award.

Print one rosette per page at 100 percent scale, cut around the loops with small scissors, and you have a physical prize you can pin to a shirt, glue to a card, or stick on a gift bag. If you are running a real contest, you will need more than one rosette. The fastest way is to open this tool three times and keep everything identical except the color and the center text. Use red for first, blue for second and white or green for third, and keep the loop count at 16 so all three ribbons look like they came from the same box of fabric. Add a small year on the top strip so the set feels dated, and print all three on the same sheet of label paper at the same scale. When you cut them out, leave a thin white border around the loops so the colors do not bleed into each other on the prize table. For a school sports day, you can also make "participation" ribbons in a softer color (pink or light green) for everyone who does not place, which keeps the mood kind without diluting the top three prizes.
