Emoji started as tiny chat characters, but somewhere along the way they became stickers: people began covering photos with hearts around a friend, explosions around a dropped phone, or a row of crying-laughing faces under a bad selfie. The effect works because emojis already carry shared meaning — a fire means "this is great", a magnifying glass means "look closely", a stack of cash means "money" — so dropping them on a photo adds instant annotations without typing a caption. Apps that do this well usually require an account, stamp a watermark in the corner, or upload your photo to a server. Each tap on the emoji panel adds a new layer to an internal list. The layer remembers three numbers: the sticker's size in pixels, and its X and Y position as a percentage of the image width and height. When you move a slider, you are editing the most recently added layer — which keeps the workflow simple: pick, tap, adjust, repeat. Layers are drawn in order, so the latest sticker always sits on top, exactly like stickers on a physical sheet of paper. Made a mistake? Remove Last pops the newest layer off the stack and redraws. Want to start fresh? Clear All empties the list but keeps your photo in place. Because the whole edit is just a list of small numbers, redrawing after every slider move costs almost nothing.

The size slider measures in source-image pixels, not preview pixels, so a 64px sticker on a 1200px photo stays 64px in the exported PNG — no surprises. Position is stored as a percentage from 0 to 100, which means a sticker at 50 / 50 always lands in the middle even if you swap the photo for a different aspect ratio. Layers draw in tap order: the latest sticker sits on top, exactly like physical stickers on paper. Two practical notes: first, every sticker is rendered with your system emoji font stack, so Windows, macOS and Android each draw the same glyph slightly differently — export once on the device your audience uses. Second, while stickers can cover a face or a license plate, this is not censorship-grade anonymization: the emoji is drawn on top rather than the pixels below being destroyed, so a determined editor can reconstruct what is underneath. For real privacy, crop the region out instead.
